The Cost Accounting Analyst ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial and managerial reporting related to inventory, manufacturing accounting, and product costs. This role is responsible for setting product costs for all products and analyzing financial statements for discrepancies, reconciling accounts monthly to maintain accurate reporting and ledger integrity.
Key responsibilities include preparing month-end accruals, ensuring the timely completion of the month-end close process, and compiling quarterly and annual schedules for external auditors. Additionally, this role involves recommending changes to company processes and policies to reduce costs and maximize profit, as well as advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing strategies based on financial data.
A successful candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, excellent analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and experience working with accounting systems to drive accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

 

The Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for maintaining accurate product costs, inventory valuation, and financial reporting. Key duties include:

• Setting and auditing product costs for new launches and engineering changes.
• Analyzing production variances and reconciling inventory balances.
• Preparing journal entries for cost variances, labor, overhead, and warranty accruals.
• Managing LIFO reporting, overhead allocations, and full absorption calculations.
• Supporting external audits, tax schedules, and corporate cost roll processes.
• Coordinating physical inventory activities and reviewing obsolete inventory reserves.
• Other adhoc requests from management

Education, Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses:

 

Degree or equivalent experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

• Must successfully pass any pre-screening test(s).
