Leidos is seeking a Research Assistant in Audiology to join our team onboard Naval Submarine Research Laboratory at New London in Groton, CT. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in conducting research studies and research and investigate the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues associated with the health and performance of naval personnel in operational and non-operational settings. The Research Assistant will be responsible for assisting in research studies and analyses in support of NSMRL’s hearing conservation program. Responsibilities include interacting with and assisting Principal Investigator (PI) at the NSMRL in all aspects of human and non-human subject experimental planning, data collection, and data analysis; planning scientific protocol development and preparation and setup and testing of experimental equipment; developing scientific protocols for executing required human research; assisting with audiology research using experimental apparatuses used to investigate hearing protection devices and communication systems; executing setup, testing, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment; executing all aspects of research subject recruiting and coordinating with subjects and other research personnel to ensure successful protocol execution; communicating with audiologists and hearing conservation researchers outside NSMRL to maintain awareness of technology developments and explore opportunities for collaboration; preparing and presenting reports, presentations, and other documents as directed; adhering to and implementing scientific review board and institutional board review procedures; assisting in the development and tracking of program budget and coordinating with acquisition personnel to ensure contracts are executed in a timely manner; preparing travel and purchase requests with necessary support documentation; and providing other research-related support as needed. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a field related to hearing science, documented evidence of research methods experience, ability to communicate effectively, ability to acquire SECRET clearance, US citizenship, and a valid driver’s license. Work is primarily on a government installation with a normal work week Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630, with some offsite travel (~10%) required. Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance, computer literacy, Microsoft Office proficiency, and statistical software knowledge preferred. Experience in human subject research and US federal government system is highly desired. ASHA certification is desired.
