We are currently hiring a compassionate and experienced Peer Support Specialist to join our team in the St. Louis, MO area, and work with our team at our 23-hour crisis stabilization unit providing 24-hour, 365-day support services to individuals experiencing acute intoxication due to substance use. In this rewarding role, you will utilize your own experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders to inspire hope and growth in others pursuing recovery. By connecting clients with valuable resources and offering guidance through peer support, you'll play a vital role in helping them navigate their journeys towards healing and independence. Key Responsibilities include assisting participants in developing treatment plans, communicating with referral sources/guardians, participating in staffing, making or assisting in outside referrals, scheduling treatment and arranging transportation, representing the agency professionally, assisting in medical referrals, documenting services per state/CARF standards, providing crisis intervention, facilitating group education, and obtaining professional development training. Education and experience qualifications require self-identification as a present or former client of mental health or substance use services or as a person in recovery, being at least 21 years old, having a high school diploma or equivalent, completing a state-approved training program and passing a standardized exam if required, and for Missouri only, completing application and training requirements. Required license/certification includes current certification as a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS). Additional qualifications include proficiency in sharing lived experience while maintaining boundaries, effective communication skills, and ability to connect clients to recovery resources.
